Peekskill is about 40 miles north of New York City. In the early 1990s, the population was
dwindling and the downtown area was becoming more vacant. The Common Council decided
to make artist studios and galleries an important part of the City's revitalization strategy.

After spending so much time listening in solitude, it's nice to know that my listening

I've lived through several difficult car crashes in my life. To help overcome psychological trauma,
I often turn to solitude and the reassurances of my interior life. Computers have generally been
very helpful towards improving the quality of my solitude over the course
of the past twenty-five years. ---Nicholas Croft

If publications want to publish images and stories from a certain person, they should put

Marie Chouinard's source has always been the body itself, and especially the silence and the
breath which make up the “invisible” stuff of life. At the root of each new work there is always
what she calls the 'mystery', an unknown wavelength that calls out to her in an almost obsessive
manner. Marie Chouinard's work consists of capturing this primordial wavelength, of 'tuning'
it in a sense, and of arranging it in space and time with a structure and proper form to it.
